Puppies from Tralinka

Are you ready for a French Bulldog puppy to join your family and life? Have you checked out our other pages in this site, especially the page “Is a Frenchie for me?” This will answer a lot of your questions about Frenchies, what they’re like and the types of curveballs you can expect during the life of your Frenchie. If you’re still eager to go ahead, then congratulations! Your life will never be quite the same again… but in a good way; in many crazy and interesting ways, that’s for sure.

Below is a lot of general information about puppies from Tralinka French Bulldogs, and what we offer to those becoming part of our furfam. If you want to keep up to date on the pups we have available, and see some photos and videos of them as they grow, then feel free to join or visit our Facebook group, Tralinka French Bulldogs of Perth. It’s where the Tralinka Frenchie family congregates.

Pedigree pups and being a Registered Breeder

At Tralinka French Bulldogs we are registered breeders with the MDBA (Master Dog Breeders and Associates). All our adult dogs are pedigree and have registration (pedigree) papers. All the puppies we breed also will have their own pedigree papers through the MDBA, although it does take a while for those to be generated. Usually by the time puppy is 6 months old, depending on how old puppy was when sold.

For more than twenty years, we were registered breeders with DogsWest (or the CAWA as it was originally), but their insistence on keeping hold of a breed standard that encourages serious health issues in French Bulldogs caused us move away from them. The MDBA has an emphasis on healthy breeding practices, and their assistance and encouragement with improving the French Bulldog has been invaluable.

In the majority of cases, when we have pups available, they are sold on the Restricted Register, which means they are NOT FOR BREEDING. If you are interested in a puppy for breeding/showing purposes, then please call us and we shall discuss the conditions of such a sale. If you’re interested in using one of our boys for Stud, then please feel free to contact us (MDBA Registered Breeders only).

It is possible for French Bulldogs (both adults and puppies) to fly within Australia and internationally. Most airlines and pet transport companies do have restrictions regarding the transportation of all brachycephalic dog breeds, and French Bulldogs in particular; due to their pre-disposition to BOAS. There will be additional costs to fly a Frenchie, above and beyond what a small dog would normally cost to transport. This is due to the necessity of veterinary testing and certification before they fly, and their need to travel in a crate one size larger than usual for their size/weight. We are happy to arrange for puppies to fly, and to comply with all additional testing that’s needed in order to ensure their safety and wellbeing. Due to the fact we have a preference for breeding with dogs that have a longer face and can breathe very well, we don’t anticipate any issues with flying Tralinka French Bulldogs or their puppies. We’ve never had any issues with any of our pups being flown anywhere.

Flying with Frenchies

At Tralinka French Bulldogs, we do not price our pups according to colour variants. Colour does not improve the health or quality of a puppy, so to us it simply has no relevance. The only allowances we make for colour is on the basis of health. That is not mating a merle to a merle and not mating an extreme pied to extreme pied. In both scenarios vision issues and hearing loss are often the results. Our pricing is based on elements of health.

In 2025, the price of traditional short-tailed French Bulldog pups is $4,000.

In 2025, the price of single copy DVL2 (long tailed) French Bulldog pups is $5,000.

The above are prices for family pets or therapy prospects, on the Restricted register. Pups sold on the full or main Pedigree Register, that is with full breeding rights, are priced differently.

Although the legal age for pups to leave their breeder is 8 weeks of age, we hold all puppies back until they are 13 weeks old (3 months). Frenchie babies are quite slow to grow up, and are often still feeding from their mothers at 8 weeks of age. By 3 months of age, they are mature enough and psychologically ready to venture out into the world, plus they are fully vaccinated and protected from disease. The pups are also microchipped, have been regularly wormed and heartworm treated during their life, and are socialised as well as can be while still maintaining a quarantined and safe environment.

When puppies leave us

In our ongoing efforts to be responsible breeders, we are dedicated to stamping out the practice of backyard breeding and puppy farming. To this end, we ensure that all puppies from Tralinka French Bulldogs that are sold as family pets are not used for breeding purposes. All pups have a vasectomy or ovariohysterectomy before leaving our care at 3 months of age. This means they maintain their hormones and will grow exactly as an unsterilised puppy. Boys retain their testicles and the girls still have an ovary; they just can’t produce any puppies. This is a non-negotiable option with puppies from Tralinka French Bulldogs. Pets do not need the ability to produce puppies, but their hormones can certainly be left alone. The option is also available for a full castrate or spey at 3 months of age, if that is the wishes of their new families (which saves on an additional procedure later on down the track). The full desexing before puberty also helps prevent aggression in adulthood.

There are several advantages to the practice of desexing before leaving our care. Firstly, it means your puppy has already undergone a full anaesthetic, so you can be assured they don’t have any issues with anaesthetics. Secondly, any Tralinka Frenchie pup with stenotic nares (narrow nostrils) has them widened while they are under anaesthetic. Wider nostrils helps their breathing immensely and reduces the need for additional surgery in the future.

Our desexing policy

Anyone who is interested in a puppy from Tralinka is welcome to come and meet them. We feel it’s very important for potential puppy families to see where their puppy is born and raised, to meet with their parents, and for them to be satisfied with everything about us. Buying a puppy is a big decision, and not something to be undertaken without due diligence. If you’re too far away to come and meet the pups, then we are happy to arrange for a video call, so you can speak with us directly, while still also seeing the pups and parents and the nursery where the puppies are all born and raised.

Once that decision is made, and a litter and/or puppy selected, then we require a $1,000 deposit to be paid to secure the puppy. The balance is due on collection of puppy, or at least two days before puppy is to fly.
